A Reminder To Change Your Batteries!

Following the tragic fire that took place in Glasgow, we're making this blog post to remind all of our customers who use removable batteries to check them and to replace them if they haven't been replaced in the last 12 months.

Although this guide generally applies to users with loose batteries, it is also good practice for pod-system users.

Here's a list of safety tips to follow when it comes to using, storing and charging your batteries:

NEVER pierce your batteries or keep them near sharp and pointy objects.

NEVER submerge your batteries in water.

NEVER put your batteries near open flames or direct sunlight. Do not store them in hot/sunny spaces.

NEVER remove the protective wrapping and insulator.

NEVER store your batteries near metal objects such as keys or other devices.

Always store your batteries in a case when not in use. You can find battery cases online, and they can be quite cheap.

Always use a dedicated battery charger when charging. This extends the battery's life and ensures it's charged safely.

Always switch your device completely off when not in use.

If you're storing your devices when not in use, be sure to dispose of any pods that have liquids in them, and empty and clean all tanks before storing.

Always check your batteries for any signs of debris or damage to the wrapping before using. If you do spot any damage, ask your vape shop to re-wrap your batteries or replace them as soon as possible.

Always dispose of your batteries in a dedicated battery bin. Consult your local council to find one near you. (they're normally found at most recycling centres).

It's considered good practice to replace your loose batteries twice a year and your pod systems/built-in battery systems yearly (depending on condition).

For users who have dual battery devices, make sure both of the batteries are from the same brand and retailer. They also must be charged and used together. This is called "marrying" your batteries. It allows them to discharge evenly and prolongs the life of the batteries.

For pod-system users and built-in battery users, make sure the USB cable is in good condition and NEVER charge them overnight. Always keep them away from direct sunlight and away from heat.

Although this is a lot to take in and remember, battery misuse can lead to house fires with possibly serious injuries or even death.
